No Insurance Club

No Insurance Club
Need a license and insurance to start w private club or alcohol?

I dream to create a private club where people pay a subscription in order to enter (like the YMCA), but here you have the freedom to bring your own beer and playing cards, billiards, darts, etc. Then I think slapping some sofas around the room with a couple of big screen televisions. My question is: If I'm not charging that entering the space to do these things and people have the freedom to choose to bring beer or not, am I required to hold all permits, licenses, or insurance for that? I have a space to build such a "club house" to do, but I'm not going to waste time or money if I'm going to need to be like a bar for licenses and insurance.

Laws vary by state and city / county / City / Township. Visit the website of the State Government in your state and find a link to its permit and inspection to see what licenses you have need. If you need a license or not liwuour, you'll probably need a business license. Your local zoning board will be able to tell you if the property you have in mind for the club is zoned for business or not. There may or may not be an insurance requirement, but you should definitely have the fire and liability insurance. If someone trips and falls, bumps into something, whether you can be sued and lose everything you own. Or if there is a fire, you would have no means of paying for repairs.
